Feltre Craft Fair

The traditions and architecture of the Belluno area have always straddled the line between wood and stone, favoring one or the other depending on what each valley had to offer. The relationship between these two materials has always been at the heart of all wood-building traditions, serving to protect the structure from the ground and water. The design of these two lamps stems from the dialogue between these two materials, mediated and resolved by the creative freedom of wrought iron as a natural bridge between different materials. Over the centuries, the craftsman’s ability to work with both stone and wood has yielded many creative architectural solutions, which are interpreted and applied here to reconcile the project’s diverse elements.

The main body of both versions of the lamp consists of larch planks that are 25 mm thick for the floor-standing version and 15 mm thick for the tabletop version. The planks are planed and finished with Danish oil. The base of both is constructed using blocks of dolomite, roughly corresponding to the vein mined in the Agordino area, with a bush-hammered finish on the surface in both cases. Both lamps use an LED tube as the light source, measuring 120 cm and 60 cm, respectively. The lamp holds a G13-type socket, mounted within the cross-bars that run perpendicular to the main planks of each lamp’s body. Both LEDs are dimmable.
